I heard recently that you haven’t really learned a language until you can tell a joke in it, and get people to laugh. Puns are jokes that play on different meanings of the same word, or the fact that some words sound alike but have different meanings. I don’t know if any of these puns are actually funny, but they do help illustrate some points about English pronunciation and usage.
